Frequently asked questions
Short answers. For a screenshot-by-screenshot walkthrough of the app, see Help.
What is a T3A?
A T3A is a character moment worth catching — the good stuff a box score misses. It's where the name comes from: T3AM = T3A + Moment. A coach, assistant, or teammate logs one against a category like helped a teammate, positive communication, owned a mistake, extra effort, or encouraged from the bench.
What's a T3 Assist?
Every confirmed T3A triggers a T3AM-funded donation — the T3 Assist. It's funded from T3AM's own side, entirely separate from anything a family pays. No purchase triggers it; it's tied to the recognition itself.
Does logging a T3A cost anyone money?
No. Recognizing a player is always free, for everyone, every time. It's not tied to any purchase or fee.
What does the app fee actually pay for?
T3AM itself — the scorebook, stats, schedule, messages and everything else in the app — at $25 per player per season ($20 through a club). Merch is sold separately. The fee never buys $T3A or any reward value: rewards and T3 Assists come from T3AM's own side. Team fees (uniforms, league dues) are a different thing entirely: T3AM tracks them for transparency but never processes or holds that money.
Can other families see what I owe or have paid?
No. Everyone on the team sees the team-wide total — how much has been collected, how much is left — but individual fee status is scoped: a parent sees only their own linked player's row, a player sees only their own. Only the head coach and team admin see the full per-player breakdown, since they're the ones actually collecting the money.
Is my kid's data safe? Who can see it?
Minimal by design: no public profiles, no direct messages between adults and kids, and nothing about your child is visible outside their team. Paper forms you snap are read and turned into data, then discarded — not stored as images. You can read the full technical posture at any time; nothing here is marketing language layered over something different underneath.
What happens with players under 13?
Under-13 players don't hold their own login — they're parent-managed entries on the roster, and their parent or guardian is who signs up and consents on their behalf. Coaches invite parents, not the player directly.
Can players compare themselves to teammates, or see a leaderboard?
No — on purpose. There's no leaderboard, no individual ranking, anywhere in the product. A player's own T3A history is private and self-referential: it's about their own growth, not where they rank against anyone else.
Can any player give a T3A to any teammate, unlimited times?
Players can recognize each other, but recognition is capped per player per game — that cap exists specifically so it can't turn into a popularity contest. Every peer-given T3A still needs the head coach to confirm it before it counts.
Who can log a T3A?
The head coach and any assistant. An assistant's log is pending until the head coach confirms it — more people can witness a moment, but one person vouches for it before anything fires. A head coach's own logs confirm instantly.
What sports does T3AM work with?
Any team sport. Categories and stat presets are configurable per sport, not hardcoded to one — basketball is the starting focus, but nothing in the schema is basketball-specific.
How is this different from TeamSnap or GameChanger?
Those tools track the schedule and the box score. T3AM does that too, but sits a character record next to it — recognizing things like effort and teamwork that a stat line can't capture, without ever charging a family just to see their own kid's data.
What's the corporate version?
The same frameworks, re-skinned: coach becomes manager, team becomes department, and T3A stays T3A. It's built around recognizing teammates at work the same way — private, positive-sum, no forced ranking.
What does T3AM cost?
$25 per player per season, billed per season — each new season is a new bill, and the team itself carries over. Clubs and organizations running several teams pay $20 per player per season, and a club's first season is free. Pricing never changes which features you get: nothing in the app is locked behind a plan.
What happens if our book doesn't match the official scorebook?
Photograph the scorer's table book after the game. T3AM compares it line by line with what was scored in the app and shows only the differences, in both directions. The head coach — or whoever they give reconcile permission to — picks the winner for each one, and season stats update in place.
Can families watch a game they can't attend?
Live video is built and rolling out team by team — it isn't switched on for everyone yet. When it is: the coach streams from their own YouTube account and pastes the link into the game, and signed-in team members see the video above the live play-by-play. T3AM never records or stores footage, and only team members see it. In the meantime, the live box score and play-by-play already update in real time, so family can follow every possession from anywhere.
What can I ask the in-app assistant?
Ask T3AM answers plain-language questions about your own team — when the next game is, what got cancelled, what a trait looks like in practice. It only reads what you can already see, and it is structurally blocked from reading character records, so no one can ask it to rank or compare players by their moments.
How do I get my team started?
Create a team, then bring the season in: Roster → Import reads your roster spreadsheet, and Schedule → Import season reads the league's spreadsheet or calendar file. Each is read into a list you check over before anything is created. For families, there's one join link for the whole team (and a printable QR poster of it for the parent meeting): they scan, request to join, and you match each request to a roster spot. No per-person codes to hand out or reissue. See Help for the full walkthrough with screenshots.
